Manager of Corporate Sustainability Services

Department: 503B - Non-Forestry GHG
Location: Emeryville, CA

SCS Global Services is seeking a Corporate Sustainability Services Manager to be in charge of developing new and existing client relationships and delivering high quality consulting services for our clients, with a focus on enabling better sustainability decisions, management and communication through the best science and insights, with a focus on the improvement of product and supply chain sustainability.

The position offers a unique opportunity and responsibility of working with leading global companies to help them understand and manage their environmental impact, and help them implement and communicate on their actions to improve environmental performance. You will develop insights and solutions adapted to client’s specific needs and objectives, which can include developing sustainability strategies, facilitating fact-based decision-making, managing solutions projects, and guiding sustainability communications support. The ideal candidate will have a keen understanding of how to use the latest science and apply it to business operations and strategies. You will oversee a small but growing team which executes projects for clients, with a focus on the improvement of product and supply chain sustainability.

Minimum Qualifications
The minimum required qualifications for the position include:

  • 5+ years professional experience working in or with private sector companies on product or supply chain sustainability;
  • A demonstrable track record of developing business opportunities and managing client relationships;
  • Strong knowledge in Life Cycle Assessment
  • A deep understanding of the product/supply chain sustainability market dynamics in the USA
  • The ability and desire to work effectively with cross-functional/cultural profiles,both internally and externally
  • A strong set of references and project portfolio
  • Fluent in English
  • A dynamic and enthusiastic personality interested in working with a rapidly growing team

Roles and Responsibilities

Core responsibilities

  • Managing and developing existing SCS client relationships and accounts
  • Developing new SCS client relationships and accounts
  • Pursuing and closing sales leads with current and prospective clients
  • Working with Research and Development team to launch new product and service offerings in this area
  • Managing project workloads and other staff
  • Coordinating with marketing team for the successful development and dissemination of marketing materials

Other direct responsibilities can include

  • Generating potential new product and service concepts 
  • Market analysis, including maintain extensive knowledge of current market conditions and evaluating competitive offerings, prospect needs
  • Strategy setting, developing business plans and marketing strategies;
  • Coordinating with marketing & communications director;
  • Conducting sustainability-related assessments, such as corporate and product footprinting;
  • Preparing reports and presentations;
  • Developing unique solutions and approaches for clients;
  • Leading knowledge areas within the company;
  • Other leadership positions and responsibilities.
